About the company

The STAUB family business began as a cookware store in 1892 by Francis Staub's grandfather Auguste Waldner in the Alsace region of France. After a brief foray into acting, the charismatic Francis decided to change professions by taking over the family business. In 1974 the Year of the Tiger, he purchased a nearby cast iron plant and Staub cookware was born. As the company grew, so did its acquisitions. Now nearly thirty years later, the company stands as the undisputed leader of culinary cast iron and is today, with it's one of a kind creations, the largest cookware company in France & Europe.

STAUB is a family owned company based in the Alsace region of France. All our products are designed and manufactured in France. STAUB operates three manufacturing plants: foundry for cast iron moulding, enamelling factory, and ceramic factory. The company has over 500 employees and exports to 50 different countries including Europe, Japan, SE Asia, Korea, Israel and North America. To the delight of many gourmet chefs and cooks in the United States, Staub distributes its products in the U.S. since May 2001, through its own subsidiary in Long Beach, CA.

Staub means perfection and technically advanced products with innovative designs combining traditions and modern cooking. Staub enamelled cast-iron fits all heat sources including oven and induction. Great on the table for beauty and taste, it is used by the most famous chefs across the globe. Staub enamelled cast-iron combines the highest quality, and best designs for professionals and home-use.

Our Stork Logo

The stork is the symbol of the Alsace region in France. It is the symbol of happiness and loyalty. For many centuries, this rare bird set its home in Alsace. Every year, they would return from Africa to announce the coming of spring in France and build their nests on the peaks of houses and churches. Unfortunately, the stork population declined, so stork parks were created to reintroduce the stork back into the Alsace region. One of these parks sits next to Staub headquarters in Turkheim, inspiring Francis Staub to incorporate this centuries-old symbol into STAUB logo.

Our clients and why Staub is the obvious choice:

Used by some of the most celebrated chefs in the world including Paul Bocuse, Thomas Keller, Jean Joho and Joel Robuchon, the Staub cookware combines the traditional with the modern. Its design is so technically advanced that it actually helps to enhance the flavours of the dish. Mr Staub is a personal friend of these chefs and as such is able to design products that suit their needs meeting the rigorous demands of their industry. And it is no doubt that due to its uniqueness and functionality Staub had been awarded INPI (National Institute of the Industrial Protection) Innovation Award 2002 & "NeoRestauration" Innovation Award 2002.

One of a Kind:

There are numerous factors which make Staub cookware unique in its design. To start, its black matte enamel coatings make it indestructible and highly chip resistant and also keeps it from discolouring. The cast iron cookware retains the heat beautifully, keeping the dish warm long after it's been taken out of the oven or off the stove. It retains heat and distributes it evenly, making the food more consistent in texture and taste. The special ceramic bottom also makes it possible for use on all types of heating surfaces. In addition to having these technical merits, its attractive appearance makes it possible for the dish to go straight from the stove to the table.

Francis Staub is directly involved in designing and creating each of the pieces in the line. Following an extensive design and testing process, a patent is obtained on that particular item of cookware. During the manufacturing, a sand mould is made for each cast iron piece and then it's destroyed-making each piece unique unto itself. The entire production process for each item takes a full working day.
